Perhaps, You may hear the voice of your primary school’s art teacher saying that “You’re not very creative”. And you may feel like “For me, Creativity just won’t come”. Then, This one is for you. Being Creative is often a struggle in this time conscious world. And Creativity is breakfast in many people’s life. I mean, by breakfast they’re skipping it everyday. However, Creativity comes to us easily and becomes our best friend if we avoid these three habits from our lifestyle.
Yes, These three habits prevent the creativity from entering into our blood, brain and body!
You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
Sitting back and waiting for the moment/inspiration to come is the first and worst mistake we all do. However, the moment will never come until we make them come. Whenever you think of being creative, there comes the side thought saying “It takes time, You need to think, It will drain all of your mind etc………” Yes, this is your first enemy. Just churn it and throw it to the dumpyard. Remember, Not only muscle but everything will become stronger only when we work more on it. Stop procrastinating and start working on your creative ideas.
We share an instance here of how Joe got through procrastination. Hope it will help you too.
- Joe thinks to built the habit of creative writing.
- He keeps a notepad with him.
- He writes down all the ideas he has to build creative writing.
- He decided to go with one of his ideas. i.e. Writing Microblogs.
- He sets up a space that won’t disturbs his work.
- He goes to that space (rooftop with a cup of coffee) and Starts writing blogs everyday.
- Over time, He became a continuous writer.
Joe is no more a procrastinator of time! Say Yay.
As Elizabeth Gilbert, writer and author of Big Magic says,
“Recognising that people’s reactions don’t belong to you is the only sane way to create. If people enjoy what you’ve created, terrific. If people ignore what you’ve created, too bad. If people misunderstand what you’ve created, don’t sweat it.”
Being creative isn’t about being right or being best. The stress of being the best holds us from being creative. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you’re not a creative person and you won’t be good enough on the basis of someone’s opinions. If you judge too quickly based on others views, then creativity is a nightmare for you. Try for many other times and it will come gradually.
The lesson here? “You have to give yourself the space to create no matter what the little voice in your head says!”
3.Giving Up Early:
As the old saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day. For many aspiring people with a creative side hustle, it will take time to gain traction and achieve your goals. After getting rid of the procrastination and stop being judgemental, the last thing you have to do is to simply keep going. Obviously, Creativity betters with Time and Iteration.
The next time you feel like quitting, try looking back at your role models’ early work and comparing it with their current projects. More often than not you will see differences in their style and approach. What makes them different to the average person? The fact that they kept going.
We know it’s never easy to practice these things. It requires Time, Patience and Self-Confidence. But remember,
Fostering creativity helps us to feel useful, connect with others and solve big challenges. Being creative is more than a side project or hobby: it can help us become an agile and resourceful employee, who is able to tackle big challenges and think outside the box.
So Go, Build yourself from scratch, Get the creativity and Just Conquer!
